Pest control is a bit of a misunderstood one so we thought we would clarify a few things about it and what it really means, and what you might expect from your pest control technician!
We get it nobody wants bugs or any sort of rodent around their home. But it’s really important that we just stay calm and follow what the experts advise. Keep in mind, there’s no magic bullet for pest control. You know that saying, “Good things come to those who wait”? Well, that applies here too! Treatments can take some time to work, especially if the pests have been around a while. The longer they’ve had a chance to settle in, the longer it could take to eliminate them entirely.
Your pest control technician is here to help every step of the way! They’ll tell you what to expect, how long things might take, and provide tips you can use to help prevent any future infestations.
1. Let’s Talk Terminology
When they hear “exterminator,” people may envision someone bursting in behind a cloud of smoke and powerful chemicals. But that is not the whole story! We believe in catering our approach to the nuisance at hand, and establishing a unique set of steps that will not only eliminate your pests, but also prevent them from returning.
2. But My Kitchen Is Sparkling Clean
We hear this a lot! Even if your kitchen sparkles, your home is not entirely pest-proof. Food is just one part of the equation and there’s a whole world of things in and around your home that can attract them. Some pests are attracted to moisture, so they may sneak in for a drink.
3. One-Time Treatments Aren’t a Permanent Fix
A one-time treatment can make a big difference, but not seeing bugs at the moment doesn’t mean they’re not going to come back. From experience, they usually do! That is why we recommend annual pest control treatments for our residential customers, and ongoing programs for our commercial clients. Forget about having to keep track of when your next service is due, we’ll send you a reminder! And for our commercial customers, we won’t contact unless it’s convenient for you.
4. Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
So when you get prep instructions from us, it’s really, really critical to follow those instructions so that this treatment can be as effective as possible. Basically, we want to be the best for you, but you also need to help us! “A change in your home, if a technician suggests that, it’s not about being critical; it is to help expedite the elimination of your pests. Just a quick note, please don’t try DIY treatments, that can sometimes exacerbate the things. Listen to the professionals and heed their recommendations.
5. Some Pests Are Helpful
We are not talking about termites, rats, mice, ants, cockroaches, or fleas! There are all sorts of harmless bugs that are wonderful for the beauty of our planet, such as ladybugs, praying mantises and butterflies. They’re simply trying to exist alongside us, and they each have a unique part to play in our ecosystem!
